Irrigon, Oregon
History:
Located between Umatilla and Boardman on Highway
730,
Irrigon was incorporated in 1957. It's original purpose
was
to act as a ferry crossing on the Umatilla River before
the
Umatilla Bridge was built. The town got its name from
the
large amount of irrigation created to tracts of tillable
land
for various agricultural pursuits.
