in 1910, Lake Oswego has always been considered one of the finest residential
areas in Oregon. Lake Oswego offers full-service police and fire protection, a
heavily-used library, and an award-winning senior center. It also provides planning
and zoning regulation, building inspection and regulation, street maintenance
and improvement, and water, sewer, and surface water services. The schools
in the city rate among the best in the county, with more than 80% of high school
students going on to attend college. There is a city-owned sports center
on the Willamette River, two public swimming facilities on the 405-acre Oswego
Lake, a self-financed 18-hole golf course, indoor tennis center, and outdoor amphitheater
right along the river. These amenities, managed by the cityıs Parks and Recreation
department, help promote Lake Oswego as a place to "live where you play."
