Ontario, Oregon
Ontario was founded June 11, 1883 by William Morfitt,
James W. Virtue, Daniel Smith and Mary Richardson. The
town was incorporated in 1896.
Located in Malheur County, Oregon's second largest county,
approximately 15,300 people in 6,200 households live
in and around Ontario today. The community has five
elementary schools, one middle and one high school for
its 2,900 students
Ontario is now in the process of increasing the city's
water capacity. The current water system has a daily
capacity of 13 million gallons. Peak daily usage is
9.5 million gallons, leaving 3.5 million gallons of
excess. Treatment for the system includes flocculation,
filtration and disinfection.
